Mariannhill Toll Plaza is the final mainline toll on the N3 before Durban, positioned roughly 10 km from the city centre between the Key Ridge and Paradise Valley interchanges in the greater Durban metropolitan area. Unlike the four preceding N3 plazas which are operated by N3TC, Mariannhill is operated directly by SANRAL. At R16.50 for a Class I vehicle, it is the cheapest of the five N3 mainline plazas and often the one most vividly remembered by travellers arriving weary after the long drive from Johannesburg.

About Mariannhill Toll Plaza
Mariannhill takes its name from the Mariannhill Monastery, a Trappist Catholic monastery established in 1882 by monks from Austria, which sits on a hill overlooking the area. The monastery was a significant early settler institution in KwaZulu-Natal and gave its name to the surrounding suburb. The N3 through this area descends steeply from the KZN Midlands escarpment into the Durban coastal basin — a dramatic final stretch of the 590 km journey from Johannesburg. The plaza is located near the Pinetown industrial area, one of KwaZulu-Natal's major manufacturing corridors. SANRAL operates this plaza separately from the N3TC concession section to the north.
